Is it possible to use Act 2012 with my Dymo LabelWriter?

[ Edited ]

Hello All!

I'd like to be able to print shipping labels using my Dymo printer.  I see info about earlier versions of Act, but not for 2012, and the same options are not there so the directions aren't working.

Thanks so much!

You need to check with Dymo.

Thanks, however I was hoping that somebody here had the information to share. I've already emailed them, but who knows how long they'll take to reply.

I too would like to know if there's a Dymo Labelwriter  "add-in" for Act Pro 2012.

I looked at the FAQ on the Dymo website, and it refers to DYMO Label v. 8.4 being released sometime soon and should include a plug-in for Sage Act 2012. Right now the website lists Software v.8.3.1 as the current version.... so hopefully soon.

We are all waiting with bated breath for this patch!

Well, until then here's my work-around for this:

From within ACT! while viewing the contact you wish to print a label for:

Click "Write"  > Click "Letter"

Microsoft Word opens a new letter with the address listed.

Then, mouse over and highlight the address information....

With address info highlighted, right click the mouse and click "Copy"

Then, open The Dymo Label Writer Software (version 8)

Right click inside a Dymo blank label temple and click "Paste"

The address info from the letter appears in the label.

Then, click "Print" and the label will print on the Dymo Labelwriter.

Now If this is a common "mail-to" address (i.e. a "bill pay" address) then right click on the label again in the Dymo Software, and select "Save to Dymo Address Book" and it will save to Dymo Address Label's internal address book which does away with the need to cut and paste again from ACT!  In fact, you won't need to open ACT! at all to print this label in the future!
