Integration issues between ACT 2009 and Outlook and Word 2003

Hello, I'm a brand new user to ACT 2009. Ideally I would like to use Outlook 2003 as my email editor and Word 2003 as my word processor but I'm having real problems getting ACT to integrate correctly with Outlook and Word. When attempting to write a letter to a contact using Word I get the following error message

'Unable to cast COM object of type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.ApplicationClass' to interface type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word_Application'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{00020970-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}' failed due to the following error: Library not registered. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002801D (TYPE_E_LIBNOTREGISTERED)).

When attempting to email from ACT I get the following 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object'

This is driving me nuts - does anybody have a solution please?

Close ACT! and any Office applications.  Then go into add/remove programs and uninstall Microsoft Office 2007 Primary Interop Assemblies.
