Integrating an old database without losing current contacts and notes

So, while trying to delete a contact today, I accidently clicked on delete lookup instead of delete contact and in just two clicks I lost almost 500 contacts. I am using ACT! by Sage 2007 (9.0) Version 9.0.0.175. The last backup was awhile ago but still is useful. My question is how can I import the contacts I deleted without affecting the contacts that are up to date? Any help would be much appreciated.

Here is a technote for Best practice on doing this:

Be sure to back up your "live" database before proceeding!

You should also look at getting the updated patch for ACT! 2007 ... if on a multi-user database, all users will need to get the update
