Is installing act on a server generally the same way you would just install ACT on pc? We then want to create remote databases that we can access from diffrent locations -- logging onto the server. We will be moving an existing database onto the server once act is installed and and importing another data base. Does anyone have any clue on steps/instructions for these actions?

my understanding is that each PC must have act and SQL server installed on it.
your act database is the thing that is shared and that would be on your network.
Just like you have microsoft word on your PC but share docuemnts on the server.

Well we do, but need to imput our already established database on server and access it then, therefore we would log onto server, as my understanding and access it that way. I am just not getting exactly what your saying....we would just create a new database and import the motherdatabase info...and how is that gonna get us on the server?

SQL only needs to be running on the server, it installs with ACT but is unnecessary on the workstations for most features and is therefore not required.
Here are the steps to share over a local network.

One last question, so I hope, can I just move a database over to the server after ACT is installed using restore as feature? Then import another -- merging two into the " mother ship"

Basically that is what you would do there are several smaller steps associated with these two major steps. However once you have created your mother ship you then could create your rbd
