Installation abort. SQL non-starter

Here's the error message. What do I do?

Hello Scott6113,

Welcome to the Sage ACT! Online Community!

 

If no other programs are using SQL on this computer, I would uninstall any Microsoft SQL components (Add/Remove Programs), then rename the 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server' folder (ex: Microsoft SQL Server - Old).  Reboot the computer, then install SQL individually using the following article (assuming ACT! 2012):  KB Article 26994

 

Note: If this is a Vista or Windows 7 operating system, disable UAC before attempting install: KB Article 25665

 

If this does not resolve the issue, it should produce some more specific error messages.  Also check the Event Viewer for additional error messages.
