Importing .pad databases into Act 7

When my operating system crashed I had the disk wiped and XP reinstalled.  Then I reinstalled all my applications, incl. ACT 7.  I have been uable to import the backed up databases back into ACT.  They are from the same version.  When importing a message appears "Error in the application" with no further direction.  Any ideas?

The problme might be that you have reinstalled ACT but have you also done the updates because if the backup was done with a leter update this might explain why it could not be restored

The database was lifted off the hard drive before wiping it.  I reinstalled ACT with the same disc as had been used before.  Before posting my question on this board, I had gone back to my authorized computer service center, which had done the work.  They said the information is there, but they could not import it either.
