ACT Premium v16, WinServer 2008.
While importing an Excel file into Contacts, is there any way to automatically Link each record to a Company?

Once you've imported the data change your preferences (Tools/Preferences/Admin/Company Preferences to automatically create Companies and link them to contact records. Note that this will only create a Company record but the address info will not be filled in. If you want a more robust solution use the Company Wizard product which will give you more options.

Thank you for your reply and the information. I like both Patricia and her husband and may buy the product.

Another way that will include the address, phone, and even custom fields in the Company is to use OAK!Merge. OAK!Merge is an add on product for importing, linking, deleting, and exporting records from all the major ACT! tables, including custom tables.
You would import the Companies and map any field you want populated. Then, import the contacts with those fields mapped as needed; including LINKING the contacts to the approperatiate companies. You could also link the contacts to groups or opportunities too, if that is needed.
There is a link to some YouTube videos of this and the manual at www.OAKMerge.com. Use the free trial to test it.out and do some live merges. A screen shot of Mapping Company Fields with some transformations for trim and all caps is below. It shows from CSV to ACT. The source can also be Excel, XML, or an Access Query.
