Importing Data

i am using act! by sage 2006 version 8.0.0.182

i have created all the fields i need to get it to work to how i would like to have it.   However, i have created an excel file i can save as text delimited to import the information. this file has 860 names, but when i am done with the transfer, there are only 116 names and some of them are missing the first letter of the name.

What am i doing wrong i cant tranfer this data correctly,  PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Importing Data

With what record is the import stopping?  You may have a bad or invalid record in your source file.  Also, try saving the file in Excel as a .csv (comma delimited) file and importing that.

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.

Re: Importing Data

I am having the same problem with a 2300 name csv file.  I looked at the rows and the only odd thing is that when I exported my OUtlook data I often have more than one "Category" for many contacts and the export function from Outlook puts a ";" (semi-colon) between categories.  Could that be the issue?

Re: Importing Data

What sort of problems are you having?

I'd definately update to 8.02 - if sharing or syncing the database all system will need to be updated. If syncing, also update with Hotfix 5 from this ACT! Knowledge Base article -

Why not import directly from Outlook as per this ACT! Knowledge Base article -
