Currently we have two databases in operation with one being Act and the other being iContact. We are looking to move all our data onto Act and use that as our only database. My main concern is when I import the excel sheet from iContact to Act that we will get a huge crossover of data due to some contacts existing on both databases. How do I avoid getting a long list of duplicates after I import the data? I want to avoid all that sorting and deleting if possible.

You could go into Tools>Preferences and configure the Duplicate checking, then when you import, you will be given merge/add options for checking. Or, I find an easier was is to use an AddOn called Duplicate Contact Wizard
