*Important* ACT! Product Forum Changes Scheduled March 1, 2009

A large number of posts in any forum is a great challenge to experience.  Thank you all for your participation in the community.  We have been monitoring the statistics of the ACT! forum board for a while, and have decided to split the existing ACT! forum into two.  The existing ACT! board will become ACT! 2005 (version 7) & higher.  We will add an additional board, ACT! version 6.x & prior.  Here's a sample of the new board layout.  We will do our best to move the existing posts.  However, this process will be a challenge due to our limited ability to identify versions numbers.  We feel your pain in not having version numbers on these posts, and have been working with our software provider to find a creative solution.

What does this change mean for you?
Dividing the forum will make it easier, since the content will be more relevant.  You can also control your subscriptions to get alerts on both boards, or just one.  If you are currently subscribed to receive alerts when members post to the ACT! board, your subscription will be applied to the ACT! 2005 (version 7) & higher board.  To receive email alerts on postings to the ACT! version 6.x & prior board, you must setup your subscription.  If you need assistance, please review the subscription demonstration:

Whilst I understand why you've segmented the forum in this way I find the naming of the groups a little illogical and potentially confusing to new community members.

Labeling the ACT! "standard" group ACT! 2005 & higher but the ACT Premium group just ACT! Premium is a puzzle.  I suspect the semantic contortions are because you don't quite know what to call ACT! "standard". I also think it would be useful to have a group specifically for ACT! for Web (all versions).

So how about..

  1. ACT!
  2. ACT! Premium
  3. ACT! for Web
  4. ACT! version 6 and earlier.
  5. Best Practices, Tips and Tricks

Jeff,

Thank you for your feedback on the board structure.  Your post was discussed in our internal moderator meeting on March 10th, and we are taking your suggetions to heart.  We will be looking at the volume for activity on ACT! Web and certainly will look at the order of board placement.  I am interested in hearing if there are additional thoughts from other community members on how we can improve the current structure.  Please post any additional ideas, as we want to continue to improve the experience for everyone.

Thanks again, Jeff.
