Import or Open database from previous version

I just installed ACT 2010 on a Vista machine.  My earlier version of ACT 2006 is on a different computer.  I want to export or somehow get the database to the new computer and upgrade it.

I copied the database onto a jump drive, so I have a PAD file on the jump drive.  The error message is that they database cannot be accessed, and that I should check my network connection and verify that the network server is available, and that I may need to disable the firewall.

But the jump drive is local to the machine with the new ACT 2010.

I copied all of the files from the jump drive to the database directory and the error message is the same.

I did a backup and restore, but when I open the new database in the new program, it asks for user name and password, which I do not think I have set in the original file.

How do I get the database to the new machine and the new version?

Re: Import or Open database from previous version

Got it. Figured our password settings on original file, made backup, restored file.

Yup, you can't just copy the database as the PAD file refers to the original machine name
