Import data into a field that has a predefined set of 'drop down'

Hi

If I have a field called Colour  that has drop down in the Contacts section selections for just the words:

Green

Blue

Red

Yellow

then if I import from a  CSV file, canI create a column called 'colour' that hasvarious colours that will correctly 'map' with the colour field and be imported.

What would happen  if my CSV had the colour 'Purple' for instance.

Would that be 'rejected' or would it update the 'drop down' list

Cheers

Hello cjayd34,

Welcome to the ACT! Online Community.

- If the column name in your .csv file matches the field name in ACT!, it will automatically be mapped during the import

- If you have a dropdown value that is not in the list of values for the field, then it will be added to the field and the dropdown list if you have allowed edits and updates to the field and the dropdown list through the Define Fields dialog screen
