How can I import an address book (all fields are alike) from Word to ACT!?
I tried to save the Word address list as a plain text then open it in Excel, which went okay, but I could not save the Excel file as a .csv that would import into ACT!.
When I save the file, in Word as a .csv, it does not separate each element of the contact information with a comma. When I open the .csv in Excel it only recognizes the comma between City and State.
I saved the Word file as a .txt file. I then opened it in Excel, selected delimited then comma, then General under "column data format", then finish. I then selected .csv as file type and named it.
When I tried import it into ACT! it only recognized the comma between City, State. No other fields were 'mappable'.
You'll have to get your data into a properly formatted Excel or CSV file for Act to import it correctly. There are tools and services that could help with this, but this forum is not the place to find them. Try a MS office support forum for further assistance, I've used www.excelforum.com before with success.
