How to start attachment service in ACT! PRO 2011?

I just installed ACT! pro 2011; and restored database from ACT! 2005; first, I can't do backup; after searching the knowledge base, I saved that as a new name database- then I can back up; but now the problem is I can't attache files to the notes section. Everytime I tried to attach a file, the error message " ACT! attachement service has stopped... need to start attachment service"!

 

  I checked the tools  -> preference -> admin -> and the attachement selection is done

 

  Also, I tried to attach file in the Demo database, it worked fine.  Is it something wrong with my database? But I did several times on database repair & maitainence.

 

  So, need help here!

Welcome to the Sage ACT! Community!

 

This issue can be caused by having insufficient permissions applied to the '*databasename*-database files' folder.  To update the permissions:

- using Windows Explorer (the My Computer/Computer icon), browse to the folder containing your database

- right click on the '* - database files' folder > select Properties

- select the Security tab > click on the Add button

- enter the name 'Everyone' and click the Check Names button > click OK

- highlight 'Everyone' and select 'Full Control' in the permissions area

- click OK to close and apply the window

- test attachments

That solution did not work for me.

 

I used to be able to add documents and it suddenly broke.

 

Any other ideas?

 

I am using Sage ACT! Premium 2011 Version 13.1.111.0, Hot Fix 5 on Win7 x64.

 

The error I get is:

 

The ACT! Attachment service has been stopped.  Attachments cannot be accessed or created. Please start the service.

This just happened to me. Win7 pro- Sage ACT! Pro 2011 Version 13.1.111.0, Hot Fix 6.

I was importing  data  from 1 act db to another act db, next thing i'm noticing is that my Attachment buttons do not work.

No can attach anything to Note and History Tabs.  How do I fix please?  This instructions in this post to resolve are not valid? Help - Thank you - FSBill
