We have ACT 2012. This is the first time I try to restore from a backup. There are two backups on a NAS server (we use backup assist to do the backup). One folder is Act SQL and one folder is Act. The file Type of .bak is under the folder of Act SQL. The other one is WindowsImageBackup. I tried to use the SQL one(I zipped it since the restore only takes zip files), and it failed with message of "it's not a backup file".
My question is it can only be restored from a backup that is done in ACT or backup from other tools?

We have ACT 2012 version 18.104.22.1680. I don't see the Restore from Tools, but File only. It only gave me the option of .zip file when I chose database, not the Bak file.

Thanks for all your help. I was able to restore it as a new database. But since users customized many fields (layout) on their original database and they'd like to keep the original one. When I tried to restore it to the original one, I got the message of "Exclusive access could not be obtained because the database is in use.", but no one is using it and I don't see any Sage.exe process running.
