If the working database is on a server, the MSSQL server can be removed from the local install. Without the MSSQL server, a database can't be created but the database on the server can be used.

Re: How to remove New Database option for Stadard User

In Services.msc, set MSSQL$ACT7 to Disabled. It will also prevent use of the ACT! Email client (ok with other clients such as Outlook)

Another option to try is to remove Windows Admin rights (you should do this anyway). I think you need to be a local Windows Admin to create a database... certiainly to create a remote, so I think also to create a new db

BTW Roy: It's SQL 2005 Ex. Hasn't been MSDE since ACT! 2006 :-)
