How to delete contacts within an established group

I was wondering if someone knew how I could go about deleting contacts out of an established group. I am new to ACT.

Hello Jason,

Welcome to the Sage ACT! Online Community!

 

Depending on what you actually want to do, there are 2 methods:

1. Remove the contacts from the Group, but leave them in the database: Go to Groups screen > if in List View - double click on desired Group > selec the Contacts tab in lower right area > select 'Add/Remove Contacts' button.  Here you will determine if the contacts are added through the Static method or Dynamic Criteria method. 

 - if Static: click on Contacts button (to far right) and use the screen presented to remove the contacts from the Group.

- if Dynamic: determine the criteria that is being used for inclusion in the Group.  Then you will need to update the desired contact records so they no longer meet that criteria.

 

2. Delete contacts listed in Group completely from database: Go to Groups screen > right click on desired Group name > select 'Create Lookup'.  Contact List view will be presented > highlight all or individual contacts > right click and select Delete Contact. 

 

Note: Before making changes it is highly recommended that you create a backup of your database through the File > Backup > Database option.

We have a couple of AddOns dedicated to deleting group members - Remove from Groups - http://www.actaddons.com/products/2005/remove_from_group.asp & Delete Group Lookup - http://www.actaddons.com/products/2005/deletegrouplookup.asp. 

 

There are several more....just put Groups in the search box at www.actaddons.com -- just be sure to check compatibility which you'll find in the lower right hand column on every product page.
