I have installed the trial for ACT Pro. I did a custom set up and unticked the install SQL Server Express option as I already have it installed.
It warned me about not being able to create a database.
After installation, I ran the program and indeed it does not allow me to create a database.
How do I tell ACT where my SQL Server is so that I can enable database creation?
Otherwise my trial is useless.

ACT! installs its own instance of SQL. The instance of SQL that was already installed cannot be used by ACT!.
The easiest way to correct the problem is to uninstall ACT! and reinstall again but do not uncheck the SQL install option. You can install SQL manually, but that is a bit more involved.

I have tried that but it gets stuck installing and does not give an error message when it tries to install SQL server.
I already have SQL Server 2008 R2 64 bit edition installed.
