Re: How do I repair a file version 2006

have been using a database since 1997 for my business.  I do occasional (not regular) reindexing to the file.

This week we changed staff members, and when I have tried to add a user, I get the error message "An attampt was made to access an unnamed file past its end"  Earlier review of this website indicated to me that I had to repair my file, but no instructions as to how to do so.

Thanks so much for responding

That doesn't sound like an ACT! 2006 error... it sounds more like the much older 5.0 or 6.0 versions.

What version of ACT! (the full build from Help | About)?

What you describe does not sound like an ACT! 2006 error but one that I have seen with ACT! 5 and 6. That indicates a corrupted DDF file and that is not repairable in the field but requires use a database repair service. Sage no longer does database repair on ACT! 5 and 6. Several of the ACCs (including Tech Benders) can do database repair on an ACT! 5 or 6 database. The other option would be to restore a known good backup of your database.
