How do I define address 3 field from character to currency?

I made the mistake of using address 3 in my database for a field that should be defined as currency.  I went back in to define the field from character to currency.  The system would not let me change it.  Is there an easy way to do this without swapping the field?

In a word, No.

What about this option:

1. Create a new field of type Currency - call it whatever you want

2. Put that new field where you want on the layout.

3. Lookup>Address 3 "Contains Data" - this will lookup all records that have a value in Address 3.  *if* they are all currency and not really address 3, keep the lookup.  Otherwise, remove from the lookup any that are Address 3 that you want to keep.

4. Edit>Copy Field.  Copy all Address 3 values to the newly created field.

Now, you have not lost any values, and you can remove address 3 from the layout if desired.

Hope this helps if I understood your question...
