ACT Ver 2010
I have a contact in my db that is called piddelypunk with a lot of secondary contacts. I want to export that contact and then load it into another named database. I thought I would use the export feature, but it keeps asking me for an existing db name. It's late Friday, so I'm sure I'm over looking something simple.

Create a database on that computer - File | Save Copy As | Save Empty Copy
Export to that database
Move the single record database - Backup - move zip - Restore | Restore As
Then import to other database

Mike, I wanted to see you write what you just did. I think others might want to see exactly these steps.
Now, I will put in a request for an enhancement to allow the export of 1 thru n contacts so that any other db can import it. I see it being used as a way to share contact information. A lot of people who use ACT seem to be individuals like myself. We tend to network with non-competitive folks and would like to share contacts.
I would like to be able to share an act contact to another ACT user and would also like to share an ACT contact to another via v-card.
Hope all iw well with you today.

You'd be wrong...
You can schare contacts by MANY other means. But you specifically said including Secondary Contacts... and that means you have to transfer via a database

As soon as you add sub-tables, you limit the options.
I don't know any australians who have a real interest in Winter Olympics. It's 35C here now
