Help! We have a problem!

We got the new version of Act!Pro 2012 at the beginning of winter. We got the home or parent computer up and running and finally the remote computer up and running. We switched companies recently and now the parent computer wont launch Act!!! I can retrieve my act database from the remote computer but we can't on the main computer. We can see that the server is the wrong name but do not know how to switch the computer and server names on each computer and then resync the computers. Of course our Sage helpline expired!!  ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS OR HELP??? The boss is fit to be tied!! Smiley Happy

I believe I've had this one before, and the solution just involves deleting the pad file and re-connecting to the database. The pad file (Pointer To Act Database) just has the path to the database, which has now changed as you have changed the server name.  I expect you could also just edit the pad file (it's just a text file) and put in the new pathname.

u have changed ur main database (parent) - the terminology is publisher

so that u can move the database files from one computer to different computer and retain ur sync

its very eazy but make sure u r moving the databse without taking backup
