Help Files - will not display in browser

I have ACT!2013 Pro installed on a Windows 7 machine. When clicking on the Help Topics button, pressing F1 or selecting Help Topics from the dropdown menu, the result is the same - the browser displays a blank screen.

I have checked that the files are in the the location specified in the browser

 - URL: file:///C:/ProgramData/Sage%20Software,%20Inc/Sage%20ACT!/15.1.108.0/WebHelp/Default.htm#2002

 - File path: C:\ProgramData\Sage Software, Inc\Sage ACT!\15.1.108.0\WebHelp\Default.htm

The files are in the default location created during the install.

Even when I try to open the default.htm file with another browser (Chrome) it is still blank - the frames structure is displayed but no content.

Can anyone assist?

Additional information has been found. The following Knowledgebase article provides another work around if you do not have or do not want to download another browser:

Re: Help Files - will not display in browser

Most likely, the reason that this has happened is because your Internet Explorer browser was upgraded to IE 11, which is not compatible with the help topics page. Chrome is not compatible with it either, which is why it wouldn't display. As of right now, the only way around this would be to downgrade back to IE 10. If you are unable to do that, you can try pasting the links into Firefox, which isn't technically compatible, but appeared to display everything correctly when I tested it.

Thank you

The Emulator worked perfectly. Now all we need is for Sage/Swiftpage to make their product compatible with IE 11

Re: Help Files - will not display in browser

You can also edit the htm file so that is displays in compatibility mode by default, to do this open up the default.htm file in notepad, the default.htm file can be found here:

C:\ProgramData\Swiftpage\Act!\16.0.291.0\WebHelp

Then add this line right after the line that says with <head>, just make a new line and paste the following:

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=9" />

Then go ahead and save the default.htm, you may have to save it to your desktop first, and then past it back into the original folder depending on permissions.

Re: Help Files - will not display in browser

The fix works until I do a search and highlight a topic. 8 out of 10 times the screen goes gray and the browser freezes. Can anything be done and will Sage have a permenant fix to this soon?
