HOW TO TRANSFER TO A NEW COMPUTER WITHOUT INSTALL DISC

I purchased a new computer and want to transfer act and all its files to the new computer but I no longer have the install disc.

What info do I need to be able to install this on the new computer?

I do have the serial number, but thats all I have.

my version is:

Act! Pro 18.2.53

Any info would be helpful as I don't want to have to repurchase ACT pro...

thanks for reading

It will have to be registered, so if you are the original owner, then your name should be on file with ACT.

That should be all you need.

Re: HOW TO TRANSFER TO A NEW COMPUTER WITHOUT INSTALL DISC

In addition to the great help John gave you - make sure you do all of the Act! - updates after you install to get the latest version of v18 available PRIOR to registering.  The licensing system changed during the v18 sales cycle so v17 was on the old system and can't be registered, and v18 was on the old system but there is an update that makes it compatible with the new licensing system.

Re: HOW TO TRANSFER TO A NEW COMPUTER WITHOUT INSTALL DISC

first off..thanks for the help..ive been waiting for my new laptop to arrive and it finally came in today so here we go..i just put act on my new computer but it is a trial version..when i try to register it, it won't let me put in my serial number..it says its not valid...i'm wondering if this is because act is only allowed on one device at a time per each serial number..do I need to uninstall act from my old computer first? or is something else the culprit?

Re: HOW TO TRANSFER TO A NEW COMPUTER WITHOUT INSTALL DISC

No it is like Office where you get a number of installs before you have to contact support for a install count reset.  The count is usually something like 2x or 3x your license count.  Example to licensed users 2 x 3 = 6 installs before you need a reset.

You can recapture the license count on an install by doing a ACT> HELP > REGISTER ACT > Deactivate Your License.  Again this gets you that install count back.

Act! Trial is a fully functional version.  Once you register with a licensed copy the "Nag" screen goes away and you are good to go without having to reinstall or any other steps.
