I opened ACT and tried to connect to my database and got this error message: "In order to access this database check to verify your connection is working and It may be necessary to disable firewall, ect." The database is there and I used it not too long ago and my connection is fine. What's wrong and how do I fix this?

Most likely the SQL server failed to start. Right click on My Computer and select manage and then browse to the SQL ACT7 service and see if it's started. If not start it.

Thanks for the help. I tried what you suggested, but the ACT SQL Server doesn't appear anywhere. What next? Thanks

If you are trying to access a local database, you will need to install the SQL Server service. Instructions are in the Knowledgebase. Click the link for the article that applies to your version of ACT!:
