Getting column settings in list view to stick!

Our database is accessed by multiple users.  In our Groups, when we look at the contacts for a specific group, no matter if I choose which columns I would like to view, every other time I open the database, the columns revert back to the default setting.  Is there a way to change this?  Or can I change what the default columns are?

 Is act 2007 or 2008 with windows xp ?  

Groups - Contacts tab - options- Customize columns - make the appropriate cahnges and then close the database and reopen it

it should retain the same settings - if not then your preferences migh be damaged

backup up ur email if you use the internet mail and then start - run - %appdata% - act - act for windows 10 -

Delet the preferences folder and then reopen the act and  do the same steps given earlier it should work
