First name alphabetical look up

When i do a look up on my group called 'agents' its alphabetical but with the surname - how do i change it so the group look up starts with first names alphabetically?

Thanks in advance

Re: First name alphabetical look up

I am running 2013.  If you go to Tools | Preferences | Admin | Name Preferences you should see the list of prefixes and suffices that are ommitted from the first name lookup.

Hope this helps.

Re: First name alphabetical look up

Hi thanks for the reply.

That is for putting in Mr and Mrs and SR etc isnt it. It wont change it so the group listing is alphabetical using the first name though will it?

Re: First name alphabetical look up

I'm not sure if you are referring to the list of contacts under the Contacts tab when viewing a Group, or the Contact List view - but the following will allow you to sort by first name on either screen:
- click View
- select Customize Columns
- move 'First Name' to right side column > click OK
- sort by First Name by clicking column header 'First Name'

Re: First name alphabetical look up

Its done it - kind of - so thank you - however i cant see how to view it in detail view. I tried creating a look up from the new alphabetical order and it just reverts to the surname being in alphabetical order - very frustrating!!
