Filtering out old or duff contacts

Sage ACT! Pro 2013 Version 15.1.108.0 on Windows 7

I have a database with over 7000 contacts on,

Around 10% are companys that are not worth pursing/gone bust,

I want to hide these contacts for most of the time when making calls,

However when searching the net for new companys I want these duff companies to show up so I don't try and phone them again/ add them on again

I need something like a permanent filter that is seperate to the search

Anyone help?

Re: Filtering out old or duff contacts

We have an addon called Impact Suite v5 which can set a filter condition against your contact list on startup. It would applied when act! startup so if you do additional queries inside act! you still need to apply the original startup conditions.

To check out this feature please download the free trial of Impact Suite v5. Read More about Impact

To set the startup filter follow these steps:

1) In act! go to the contact view

2) From the LOOKUP menu select ADVANCED-> ADVANCED QUERY

3) Build your query/filter conditions then click on the SAVE icon

4) Enter the file name as "Startup.qry" and click the SAVE button

The next time act! start up Impact Suite will apply the conditions in the startup query at startup. Help Topic

Hope this helps

Re: Filtering out old or duff contacts

Unfortunately, there's no way to set Act! to automatically filter out contacts when you open it. The best thing that I can suggest to you is to create some kind of common criteria for each contact you don't want to see. For example, give them all an ID/Status of something like "Inactive".

Then you could create an Advanced Query for ID/Status does not Equal Inactive. Save that query, then create a custom command to put the query in the menu bar so that when you open act, you can just click that query and pull up all your active contacts. Then when you want to see all the contacts, do a Lookup > All contacts.

For more information on Advanced Queries:

For more information on custom commands:

Hope this helps!

Re: Filtering out old or duff contacts

Thanks Jim

I have installed a trial, having problems with the Impact suite settings

Path is Suite setting - Nav Bar - Geo coding options I have done step 1 but step 2 remains grayed out, I have selected the relevent country but this doesn't seem to help

Any Idea?

Re: Filtering out old or duff contacts

From the description it sounds like you are trying to turn on the Radius Mapping feature? ( Geocoding)

Is this a remote database? If so then you need to perform those steps on the master database then sync the remote.

Please contact us directly for more information and suppot at support@durkincomputing.com.

Thanks
