I am converting from ACT 6 to ACT 2010.
I created a new ACT 2010 layout that included all of the fields I had from my old ACT 6 version (I added a number of fields). The layout worked fine on the computer I created it on.
When I moved it to a different computer, the fields that I added were greyed out. No data was visible in them, and no data could be added to them.
Both computers are running XP, by the way. When my new Windows 7 machine is completely set up, we will run ACT 2010 on two machines - one XP machine and one Windows 7 machine.
Can anyone tell me how to make the fields so they are not greyed out if we move a layout from one machine to another?

As a general rule you can't move layouts from one database to another unles the two databases are copies of each other. In other words most layouts are specific to the database where they were created.
