Working with ACT! Pro 2011 with WinXP on 2 computers.
Testing layouts and various functions in ACT.
Opened basic contact layout and saved as new version v2.
Added 'direct phone' field tag and field to v2 contact layout.
Made copy of main database and imported into second computer.
Also made copy of v2 layout file and inserted into second computer layout folder.
On second computer, the direct phone field does not show up in the v2 layout.
I opened up the layout designer to modify/reinsert the missing field.
The field insert button in the left column does not work now in this and all
contact layouts templates.
What to do?

I'd sugest making a synchronization database if you are going to go between 2 computers. Layouts do not copy well between two databases and changes would need to be done on both machines. Seting up sync is much preferred or, if the machines are in the same office, share them over the network and your changes are all real time.

Thanks for your suggestion. I'll do that.
Will the complete function of the layout designer be restored?
I've checked other databases on the same computer and the
same thing happens in the designer.
