Failure to open connection to database

Hi,

I have a user who has ACT 9 and upon startup receives an error "Failure to Open Connection to Database." The user currently has to restart her computer and immediately sign onto ACT before opening any other applications. Any help would be lovely.

Y.

Re: Failure to open connection to database

If the database is local to their computer, it sounds like the 'SQL Server (Act7)' service is being stopped.  You can check this from the Services screen (Start > Run > 'services.msc').  Start the service and then open the database.

If this is the situation, you will want to check your Automatic Updates (Windows Updates) to see if it is trying to apply any Microsoft SQL update.  If it is, remove/hide that update.
