My newly installed ACT! 2013 Pro is extremely slow going from field to fiend compared to my old ACT 6. Any ideas as to how to improve speed?

Can you profide more information? Windows version, System RAM, Hard drive speed in RPM, type of computer laptop or desktop etc.

You refer to going from field to field but I suspect that you mean contact record to contact record. Your system has a 5400 RPM hard drive and ACT! preforms much better with a 7200 RPM hard drive or a solid state drive. Maxing the swap file may help and doing a data cleanup, especially cleard activities, may also help.

How many users? Are you syncing some remote user databases to a server db?
How many Contact records do you have?
Did you upgrade from a Prev version of ACT! ? ACT!6 ? etc...
If yes, What version specifically? FSB

I'm pretty big on ACTDIAG
Clsoe ACT!
Start
Run
ACTDIAG
Database / database list
select deisred database click on button left of file name
run the Rebuild options, schema, etc.
then try ACT!
If no success,
Close ACT!
Run ACTDIAG again
Detach desired database
Close ACTDIAG
then go into your ACT! db folders my docs/act/act data/ database folders
open the desired db .adf file type rather than the .pad file type.. FSB
