Exporting files

[ Edited ]

I am running sage ACT Pro 2011 on windows XP.  I want to export some specific files.  What I would like to do is, do the lookup.  Send that data to a thumb drive I can send to someone else so that they can import into their existing data base.

When I try to run the export wizard it asks type of file I want to export to.  It only gives me two options.  1.  ACT! Database 13x

2. Text Delimited.  I guess I'm not certain what they are asking or why they need to know.

Is there some simple drag and drop method to do this?

Well, the big question to ask first is ... will they be updating data that you want to bring back into your database or are you just wanting to send them contacts?

If they already have a database, is it the same format as yours?

Re: Exporting files

Actually I'm retiring and sending the files to the person that will be covering some of my old area.

Their version of ACT is exactly the same as mine.

Re: Exporting files

You're best bet would be to create a new database -
File | Save Copy As | Create Empty Copy

Then export the contacts you want to send from your database to the new one. Backup the new one to a ZIP and send that.

The other person will do a Restore | Restore As
Then merge the data into their database.
