Excel 2007 and ACT Premium 11.0 - unable to import

I'm trying to import 350 contacts into ACT.  The wizard goes through it's process and behold, the # of contacts I have is no different than what I started with.  Does anyone know why this is and what I need to do?  I'm trying to start 2009 organized and this is frusrating; I've spent the last two days of holiday dealing with this.

Thanks.

Pete

Have you checked the Duplicate Checking settings in Tools | Preferences | Duplicate Checking before doing the import?

ACT! uses these settings when doing an import to decide what to do if a contact name you are importing matches one that already exists in the ACT! database. The options of how to handle a match / non-match appear in the import wizard.

If this is a new empty database, or you know that none of the contact records you are importing already exists in the ACT! database you can uncheck "Enable Duplicate Checking" in preferences before doing the import.

Also check that you don't have any blank rows in your Excel data (e.g. between the column headers and the first row of data) and that all columns have headers, and the column with the names in is called "Contact".

PS Always do an ACT! backup first before attempting an import!
