I'm using a trial version of Act! Pro, running on Windows 8. The version of Office I'm using is 365 and my database is on my local machine. I've already set up Outlook integration but when I got to a contact, and click the email button up top and select write email, I'm getting this message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object". I would appreciate any knowledge on this matter.

You need to make sure that the full version of Office is installed on the local PC. The click-once version doesn't have the necessary files to integrate with ACT!. Some licenses of Office 365 will allow you to install the full version.

Here is a quote pulled from this website with regards to Click-once (or Click-to-run): http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219420.aspx
Click-to-Run is a streaming and virtualization technology that is designed to significantly reduce the time that is required to download and use Office client products. Streaming allows users to begin to use a Click-to-Run product before the complete product is downloaded.
Click-to-Run for Office 365 products are based on core virtualization and streaming Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) technologies. Click-to-Run resources run in an isolated virtual environment on the local operating system.
Here is a link to a related KBase article, although I don't think it fits your issue exactly: http://kb.swiftpage.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/36006/kw/office%20365
However the actual error message you listed is very common, look at this article: http://kb.swiftpage.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/24350/kw
I would suggest considering some of the troubleshooting steps here: http://kb.swiftpage.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/21040
it is not for the version of Office you are using, but it might help resolve your issue, or at least give you an idea.
Hope this helps
