Error in opening database

I had to run full recovery on my PC resulting in having to reinstall ACT!2010. When I tried to open my database I got an error message that says, "The database Misak could not be accessed. In order to access this database, check your network connection and verify that your database server is available. It may be necessary to disable any firewall software on your computer or the server."

First of all, the database is not on a network--it's on the same PC as the ACT! installation. Second, even though it's not on a network, I disabled my firewall anyway just to comply with the error message suggestion. It made no difference. I still got the error message.

I would appreciate any help.

Thank you.

Dan

Re: Error in opening database

Here is an article with several options for resolving this message: KB Article 19640

You'll want to look at the following steps first:

- The SQL Server Browser and SQL Server (ACT7) services are not started.

- The PAD file is damaged.

Greg, I really appreciate the help. The damaged .PAD article took care of the problem.

Thank you!
