We are having a problem backing up one of our ACT databases. We can get all the way to the end of the backup and it will then throw up an error message and the backup will fail. The error message is as follows:
The process cannot access the file ‘C:\Documents and Settings\jeffb\Local Settings\Temp\1\tmp7BF.tmp’ because it is being used by another process
We have tried logging completely off the system but the message happens again once we have logged back in.

Welcome to the ACT! Online Community. Please see if the solutions offered in KB Article 19061 help to resolve the issue.
Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.

If disk space is the issue, try running: ccleaner (download from tucows.com).. I just ran ccleaner yesterday on one of my vista pc's and it freed up over 1 gig of disk space. It also fixed my registry prob... FREEware.
The prev mentioned kb article discusses running actdiag and renaming your database,
however, I wonder if the actdiag utility could be all that is needed? Detach the d.b. first then use the rebuild options?
Actdiag has other options to rebuild schema and other d.b parts. I think those actdiag options may be enough before you go to the process of renaming your database? then if those options fail, I would try the renaming of the d.b..
I have used actdiag on more than one occasion to resolve d.b. issues for ACT!2008 version 10.2. But I am no expert. Cheers! FSB

Personally I would try disabling your antivirus software as this could be creating a lock on the temporary file that it is trying to create.
