Hi you guys (and ladies)!
I am running Act! Pro Version 22.214.171.124, Hot Fix 4 on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with Bitdefender Total Security 2017.
The database in on my hard drive and not on a server.
Every morning, I need to boot and reboot and re-reboot to eventually access my database.
The more reboots, the more paranoia coffee and suspense!
And when it opens, it goes to the Welcome page even though the preferences are set for Contacts to come up.
When I click on the Database, there is no Share-UnShare appearing as would be normal.
And then the message ...
Disabling the Bitdefender firewall and rebooting the computer did not help.
Please let me know if you have a solution.

It sounds like the SQL service might not be starting properly, and therefore not allowing Act! to access the database.
Please try the steps in this Knowledgebase article to check if the service is running. I'd also suggest trying setting the Startup type of the service in Properties to Automatic (Delayed Start).

Still no go!
I need to restart SQL (Act7) every time I start the computer.
I'll eventually need (probably) to live the nightmare of reiinstalling Act but I am still trying to avoid it.

Hi Gary & Rob.
I tried the .startsql.bat and now Act automatic startup is intermittent.
The shortcut is was the appropriate folder in Program files and also in Programs (64) as well on separate occasions.
Still intermittent at best.
