Emails stuck in outbox (Act! internet email)

Has this issue been resolved yet?  I'm using 2011 version and emails get stuck in outbox of Act! internet mail - I'm not using Outlook.  I tried the suggested workaround in KB Article 14372 to no avail.

Thanks, Telly

Re: Emails stuck in outbox (Act! internet email)

Thanks.  Did some research and found what seems to be a fix (for Comcast users).  Changed my SMTP setting to "smtp.comcast.net" and disabled authentication.  Emails are now sending.  Appreciate the guidance, TF

Who is your mail provider/ISP? Chances are they no longer use, or now they block, port 25, which for years was the default "sending" port for email. If so, ACT! Internet Mail won't work...

Comcast.  If that's the case is there a way to work around that?

Thanks, TF

Re: Emails stuck in outbox (Act! internet email)

You stated you do not use Outlook, so although that would/could work, here's few other options:

1. If you have Outlook Express, this could be setup to work.  However, chances are you're on Vista or Windows7, which do not have OE.

2. I wrote a plug in to *send* mail from ACT! through web mail providers (GMail, Yahoo, HotMail), and although I've never tested with Comcast, I don't see why it would not work.  More info is at http://www.rbrdatasolutions.com/webmailsender.htm  [The only caveat with this is it is a sending program only, you'd still need to set up something to receive mail]

Hope this helps...

Re: Emails stuck in outbox (Act! internet email)

thanks for the advice.  Ideally, I'd like to find a way to get this to work without an add-on.  Does anyone know of any fixes that can be effected through the existing program.

Thanks, TF

Re: Emails stuck in outbox (Act! internet email)

The only thing you can try with the existing program is to contact your ISP and ask them to allow you to send through port 25. Other have had success with this.

There are NO options/alternatives within ACT! EMail

I believe it's a port issue with go daddy and act.
