Is not a surprise for me to experience a new big problem with Act!, since my history is mined with such cases.
Now this is the situation:
Yesterday, when I opened Act!10 I received an alert about there was an upgrade, and I let the software do it by itself.
Now I want to download emails and the software crashes.
These are the step by step explanation:
I open Act.
I open the Act Email. (It is set up to work alone, not related to Outlook Express or Outlook).
I press "Send/Receive".
I have 2 email accounts. On the first one I have no email waiting to be downloaded. On the second one I have 8.
Act Email tells me I have 8 emails, and show something like it is downloading them. When it finishes and try to save them on the computer, a big error message appears:
------
ActEmail, exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
What data does this error report contain?:
Error signature:
AppName: actemail.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 AppStamp:48628ab6
ModName: emailshared.dll ModVer: 0.0.0.0 ModStamp:48628a6c
fDebug: 0 Offset: 0005e4e3
etc
------
Here I am again dealing with Act! problems.
Could anyone tell me what can I do to solve this and be able to continue working?
Thank you very much!!!!

This error may be a result of the update not installing correctly. To correct this issue:
- Uninstall ACT using Add/Remove Programs from your Windows Control Panel
- Reboot your computer
- Download the full version of ACT! 2008 (10.0.3
- Double-click on the downloaded file to extract it
- Browse the extracted folder, open it and click "setup.exe" to install

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.

Moved rctrailer's reply to its own thread.

Sorry to raise a long-dead thread, but I have a client running ACT 10 and he's having the exact same problem - indeed, he's been having this problem for a while now. It looks like some download or other fixed it, but none of the downloads I've tried (updates, hotfixes, etc.) have worked. Could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
