Duplicating checking upon import of contact records

Hi

 

I was hoping someone could help me.

 

I am importing contact records into ACT as a .csv file and it doesn't appear to be checking for duplicates (duplicate checking is switched on in the software) as I have duplicated a record in the .csv file via copy and paste.

 

Can anyone shed any light as to why this is please?

Thanks for this - I've read it in full and as far as I can tell, I'm doing everything correctly! 

 

My only comment would be that the Knowledgebase Article refers to .txt files and I am importing a .csv file and the screen shot I get on the Specify Merge Options window is different (possibly because of the aforementioned).

The article refers to TXT and CSV - which are really the same

 

The difference may be a different version of ACT! ... to be sure, what version of ACT! (full build from Help | about) and how is it different?

It's ACT! by Sage 2009 (11.0) Version 11.0.0.367.

 

When I get to the Specifiy Merge Options window I get the text Specify your merge options here and then a Merge button, when I click the merge button, the screen shots for the contact merge options are the same as the knowledgebase article.

 

Perplexed!

I would recommend getting the update to 11.1 - if you have multiple systems it needs to be applied to ALL systems.

 

What are the actual options you're selecting?

 

I think you should be able to take a screen shot and attach it - "Add Attachments" under the Tags box below the post when you reply
