Duplicate Emails - Will multiple sign ins and other users sharing cause them?

Duplicate Emails - Will multiple sign ins and other users sharing cause them in ACT! ?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have hit on a simple solution for sharing emails in our organization with outlook without using Microsoft Exchange. We have created a one-user google apps account using Google's App Sync for outlook. Each user continues to have their own local outlook on their own machine(s).

HOWEVER their profile contains a MAPI email service in addition to the POP3 ones we already have and continue to use.

That MAPI service is the SAME google apps userid regardless of who logs on to outlook. This is the thing we use for sharing AND FOR BACKUP of emails. The user drags and drops their email into a MAPI folder and it is backed up and synchronised to all other users and the web.

So far so good.

I assume that when a user moves an email to the shared area ACT! will still recognise some internal flag to the email and NOT create a duplicate.

However when another user logs in and looks at the same (now synchronised to them) email will ACT think this is a new email or will it still recognise the email as being the same???

Another way of putting the same question would be: Does every email have a totally unique internal code that ACT recognises such that ACT acan always avoid duplication?

Re: Duplicate Emails - Will multiple sign ins and other users sharing cause them?

Attached email is attached where there is a matching email address in ACT, reallyy no other criteria.  There is no duplicate checking done in this process. In fact, if you manually attache the same email twice, you will get two histories.;

The only way to stop this from happening is to turn off the automatic attachment of your emaijls in tools preferences for all users and have them manually attach an email where appropiate.
