Drop Down Field Missing - a 'twist' on other postings in this forum

Hi

 

I have just applied a range of hot fixes to Act 2011 SSP - taking it to Hotfoot 6.

I have also moved my Act 'Programs Directory' (where Exe is installed)

But my Act DB etc, remains in exactly the same directory (e: Drive) as before

 

Here's the example:

I had a referred by List that did have list values of (this is an example):

 

1) ACME Co

2) WebSite

3) Call In

4) Walk-In

 

For most of my Contacts:

If I looked in the Value List for 'referred' by ACME Co is missing

Only WebSite/Call In/Walk-In appear.

 

If I go into Tools/Define Fields etc and Manage Drop Down Lists or Edit Drop Down Lists, its the same:

That is ACME is missing, but the other 3 are there.

 

BUT

1)

 

If I specifically go to a contact, where I know in the past I had 'assigned' them ACME in the referred List.

Now with that Contact selected - If I go to the Drop down List (in the contact view) - low and behold - ACME appears in the Drop down list

(But ACME will still not appear in the Tolls/Define/Manage Lists section)

 

 

2) If I do a LookUp / Contact / Referred By    'contains'   ACME

then the 1000 or so contacts where I had designated ACME as the Referred by value - all appear - and I can see ACME as the field value in the referred by column.

 

 

Can anyone help me 'get back' my missing Drop Down designations

 

I would say about 10 or so are missing out of the 40-50 Drop Down values I had in 'Referred By'

I've not heard of a hot fix update causing this type of problem.

I'm able to produce a similar experience using the following scenario:
- Drop-down field option 'Limit to List' not enabled
- Drop-down list option 'Automatically add new items users enter' not enabled

When a value is entered into the drop-down field, it will then appear in the drop-down list for that particular contact - but not for others and not in the drop-down list edit screen.

At this point, you should be able to edit the drop-down list and add those values. They will then appear in the list for all contacts and the edit list.

Note: Highly recommended to create a backup of the database before making modifications (File > Backup > Database).
