Why when I click on the Documents tab, a screen comes up saying that ACT has stopped working and will close and Windows will try to provide a solution which it never does. I have Sage ACT! Pro 2013 Version 22.214.171.124, Hot Fix 4.

may not need to reinstall act? you can find out after you get your .net stuff in order.. ?

Manually check for windows updates.
or access windows update from control panel.

What operating system do you have and what type of pc?
Note: Post above from Tom Pattyn may be the solution needed?
You may try running scan disk first but here is some info I found in a google search;

When you view your control panel / programs features,
you should be able to see what version of Microsoft .net framework you have installed.
if you have version 4.6.1
you may need to follow the act2013 part of Toms reply above
In Act! versions 2013 and older, this issue can be resolved by removing the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 update.
and here is how to uninstall a windows update
You do need Microsoft ,Net framework - just the previous version.

Wowser.. I would only be guessing, but I would think you need to remove all of them? 4.6.1...?
Not even sure how that could happen but make sure you back up your act databases and personal files.
