Display Both Value & Description

Until recently, I have not had a need for the Process and Stage in opportunities.  Now I do.

When building the Stage Options, there is a description and the percentage.

I would like to display both the value and the percentage for Stage in Opportunities.  It appears I can not edit the field to display both.

On the other hand, I created a new field with a selected drop down.  I did select display both value and description, but only the value displays.

Boxes checked on the field:

  • Primary Field
  • Use drop-down list
  • Limit to list
  • Show Description
  • Enable Type ahead
  • Field length 50
  • No field triggers set

The field length is 50.

The larges combination of value and description is 23 characters

Both the field and drop down are charcters

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi jnpurdy,

The 'percentage' field you're referring to when customizing Opportunity Process stages is the 'Sale Probability Percentage'.

This does not display on the field itself, as you've noticed, it's instead tied to the existing 'Probability' and 'Weighted Total' fields.
Setting the stage probability means that when you select that 'stage', the probability and weighted total of your opportunity are automatically updated.

You can however customize the opportunity layout to put the probability field closer to the Process/Stage box, or change the flow of your layout if this would benefit you!

Re: Display Both Value & Description

Thanks for the description of what happens with the built in Stage and Process.

However, later in the eMail I talked about creating a new field with dropdown that is not hard wired.

Do you have any thoughts on that?
