Is it possible to disable the ACT! feature that automatically formats the First Name and Last Name fields when a Contact name is added/updated?
I am running a Sync service with Outlook. Whenever an ACT! contact record is updated, it wants to reset the First Name and Last Name fields from the data in the Contact field.
The problem is that I want to have a Contact "Joe and Mary Smith" saved as: First Name "Joe and Mary", no Middle Name and the Last Name "Smith". Currently, ACT! saves the fields as First Name "Joe", Middle Name "and Mary" and Last Name "Smith".
Is it possible to disable this feature? If not, I am requesting that the ability to disable this function would be a Preference choice in ACT!

No it can't be disabled and has been a feature of the ACT! program since ACT! for DOS. You have the option of forcing the parsing of the contact entry.

For what it's worth I don't think that would ever happen. The system first name and last name fields are used internally many places in the program and those would be effected by disabling the automatic parsing.
