Design Layouts - Structure

I am wanting to design a somewhat simple layout.

-Would anyone know if there are additional layout templates available to import?

-Also looking for ways to simplify the layout structure.  I am currently trying to edit one of the built in layouts but manually dragging fields around and lining them up seems slow.  Is there an easier way?

I would appreciate any help from someone who has worked through these things.  Peter

Re: Design Layouts - Structure

I don't know of any library of layouts mainly because most layouts are database specific when there are any custom fields. Everyone tends to build there own set of tricks to speed layout design. Personally I use a combination of initial approximate field location then specifically sizing and locating anchor fields using the location options in the properties panel and then using the align tools to align the other fields with the anchor fields.

"sizing and locating anchor fields using the location options in the properties panel"

"then using the align tools to align the other fields with the anchor fields."

Sounds good but not sure how to do that.

Not sure what that means exactly.  Are you suggesting XACT software?

No, just love the language

Layout designer familiarity and experience  is what is required for speed improvement.

I suggest that you get your local Act! Certified Consultant to assist in design. There is a list here  http://partners.act.com/search?CountryID=1

Thanks.  I know I can do that but I was hoping to make only a few adjustments so I only need a few basics.

For example.  In the Layout Designer - Format - The following item sub groups are grayed out.

Align

Make Same Size

Horizontal and Vertical Spacing.

Re: Design Layouts - Structure

You need to have two or more fields selected with one field designated as anchor (open handles) to yse make same size.
