Client has 2 company fields that have a default value, when they create a new company the default values populate. But with the Company creation turned on (Tools | Preferences... then on the Admin tab), the default values do not populate in the field.
I wanted to know if this was expected behaviour or some sort of bug.
Running Act! Premium Version 18.104.22.168

I have just tested this in my own copy of Act! Premium and it worked fine for me. I am also running 22.214.171.124.
Just to clarify, the customer is creating a new contact which in turn creates a new company automatically? It is this company which is not auto-populating a field?
If this is the case, I would start by creating a new, test field which also auto-populates and see if it is the same. You can also test this in a different database to see if the problem is database specific.

Yes correct, This is when Act! auto creates the company from contacts.
I tested with a demo DB on my local with Act! Premium Version 126.96.36.199, Hot Fix 3. If I create a new field yes this does work, does not seem to work if the field uses a dropdown or any of the default fields. I might get the customer to recreate the fields without a dropdown

Same thing happens for creating a contact from outlook
For example phone number change to +1, Country on the address fields does not set at all

I have tested this in my own copy of Act! and I am unable to replicate the issue. Can you test this in a different database (demo DB?) to see if you encounter the same problem.
