I am using ACT Pro V18 on Windows 7 OS.
After backing up the Database, a Fresh Reinstall of Windows
and a Fresh Reinstall of ACT Pro v18 was completed.
Each time Restore is attempted, the message "Act can not Authenticate User" pops up.
I did not use a password with the backup
I have noticed ACT 18 show "not responding" on some attempts to restore from the Demo
database; A new database was created and it opened to Restore but did not recognize the
User Name. I'm apprehensive to uninstall and reinstall because in the past I had error messages
that a previous Instance of SQL was found.
Thanks for some guidance.

Question, are you sure you are placing the correct user with you created the database?
There is no default user for the Act! Database. - You must remember the correct user to be able to do the restoration and open your database again
