Deceased Contacts

If a contact or a spouse of a contact passes away, what is the best way to list them as deceased? 


Currently, I use the Act4Advisors addon, and I update the ID/Status field to DECEASED. If a Spouse is deceased, I move their name from the Spouse field to one of their "Dependents" under the contact's Personal tab with a note saying "Deceased Spouse."


This isn't necessarily a streamline solution, but it works for now. Is there a better way to handle this situation?
